Curriculum

MathematicsEduss mathematics program is designed to comply with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Standards for:

  • Number & Operations
  • Algebra
  • Geometry
  • Measurement
  • Data Analysis & Probability

The database of different exercises in the program exceeds 200,000. This diversity allows teachers to assign work to students without the risk of those sitting beside each other of copying each other’s work.

Not only does the Eduss curriculum contain exercise formats taught in the U.S., developed by an international team, the program also contains additional formats and methodologies taught in other developed countries. These provide another “slant” on how to solve particular problems. This can help students who struggle with math and also broaden the mathematical knowledge and skills of gifted students.

The Eduss curriculum is unique among math software programs. It uses very few multiple choice and true/false exercise formats. The vast majority of exercises in the program require students to do at least one level of calculation to arrive at a correct answer. In doing so, the program not only develops and tests mathematical content skills, but more importantly, mathematical processing skills.

The Content Explorer module allows teachers to peruse visually all the exercise types in the program before they decide on which to assign to student work.

Another unique feature of the Eduss program is the facility to make any “fine-tuning” curriculum adjustments a school/district may desire. These customizations can be made quickly by using the inbuilt Curriculum Designer tool. Accompanying exercise screenshots provide visual displays that facilitate easy and accurate customization selections.

Inbuilt voice instructions on what is required to complete each exercise enables students with reading difficulties to move ahead unhindered in their mathematical curriculum.

English

The Eduss English program is designed to comply with the National Council of Teachers of English Standards. The program consists of three sections:

  • Grammar
  • Punctuation
  • Comprehension

Extensive explanatory teaching slides in the grammar and punctuation sections provide teachers and students with readily available instructional resources.

The grammar section contains a vast array of different topics taught in traditional grammar, ranging from simple exercises such as correctly sequencing letters into their alphabetical order, to identifying different types of clauses in given sentences.

Inbuilt voice instructions on what is required to complete each exercise enables students with reading difficulties to move ahead.

The comprehension section contains passages of different genres from kindergarten to grade 5 level. The inbuilt whole-passage, and line-by-line voice files for all the K, grade 1, and grade 2 comprehension passages provide the added advantage of assisted reading for those students who can benefit from this resource.

Phonics/Reading

English is perhaps the most “non-phonetic” of all the major languages. That is, it has a poor correlation between phonemes and the way they’re spelled, and conversely, between graphemes and the way they’re pronounced. That is why there have been numerous attempts to “code” English to make it easier for students to both decode and encode.

The Eduss Phonics program provides a simple and effective way through this difficulty. Its simple yet effective coding system makes English phonetic and therefore enhances the student’s ability to decode almost any word.

The program is designed to meet the needs of many age and ability groups. Students in kindergarten can use the simpler parts of the program to master their early reading skills. In addition, the program is also designed to remediate older students with reading difficulties and provide a comprehensive resource for ESL or ELL students of almost any age. The inbuilt recording and playback functions provide valuable feedback to the student enhancing his/her accurate pronunciation of vowel and consonant phonemes and whole words embedded in the program.

The program is sequential and comprehensive in teaching students individual phonemes, combined sounds, and phonemic awareness. Not only does the program’s design teach decoding skills, the nature of the Eduss coding system provides numerous spelling benefits as well.

To provide a simple-to-use –program for busy teachers, the Eduss phonics program consists of three cross-referenced elements: the software program with its instruction and exercise modules, student workbooks, and the teacher’s manual.

The accompanying teachers manual contains step-by-step recommendations on how to implement the program for different grade levels/student needs. The manual also contains comprehensive resources from the original research in developing the program, so the teacher can become an expert on the nature and secrets of the English language.

Foreign Languages

The Eduss suite of educational software includes six foreign languages:

  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Chinese (Mandarin)
  • Japanese
  • Indonesian

These programs, designed to teach students to speak these languages, use a suite of interesting animated characters that interact with the student in everyday scenes. Lessons progress from simple individual sounds to short sentences. Language vocabulary and fluency is progressively expanded by being reinforced through a series of lessons and exercises.

In the Chinese and Japanese language programs students are also taught character structure and the stroke orders to produce them.

Publications

The Eduss IMTAs not only provide software-based interactive lessons and exercises, they also provide the added benefit of printable documents.

In the math program, teachers can access, peruse, and print off individual pages or whole workbooks for students. While these are designed as full color documents, they can be printed in black for budget-conscious situations. In addition, the program also has the option for teachers to generate custom-designed individualized worksheets/books as needed. These are generated from the vast database within the program and therefore afford the opportunity to print worksheets/books of the same exercise type, but with different exercise items, eliminating students copying one another’s work.

One of the spinoff benefits of the Eduss publication modules in the program is that it virtually eliminates the need for students to pay for expensive, uncustomized off-the-shelf retailed workbooks.

Predesigned worksheets/books can also be printed in part or full (in color or black and white) from the English and phonics programs.

The phonics program includes a printable comprehensive teachers manual. Not only does this provide results from the original research in developing the phonics program, but it includes step-by-step recommendations on how to implement each lesson for both kindergarten/grade 1 students and also for older students needing reading remediation or ELL/ESL students learning English. Lesson-by-lesson teacher resources within the manual provide the phonics/reading teacher with a comprehensive background resource on all the phonemes and graphemes of contemporary English.

Brightly colored printable preschool/kindergarten student workbooks (which can also be printed in black and white) are included in the Eduss program. These books are designed to equip students in the basics of their formal schooling. Letter identification and reproduction, motor skills, color exercises, puzzles, matching problems, rhyming, counting exercises, etc provide basic experiences in pre-reading and early mathematical skills.

A critical thinking exercise book is also included to develop students skills to discern pattern design and progressions, work with optical illusions and puzzles and many more problem types designed to challenge students reasoning ability to solve everyday situations. The book includes a “fact file” to expand the students general knowledge base.
